Gaming Trade Bodies
The UK gaming industry has 2 main trade bodies that look after the casino operators and gaming machine operators.
The British Casino Association (BCA) is available to those who operate land-based
casinos in Great Britain, whilst BACTA represents the
pay-to-play industry (mainly amusements and gaming machines)
British Casino Association
The British Casino Association was established in 1973 to work with UK casino
licensees. It currently represents over 90% of the UK casino industry and acts as their primary representative in negotiations with various goverment departments and the
UK Gaming Board.
BACTA
The British Amusements Catering Trade Association (BACTA) was established in 1974 and now forms the single
largest trade organisation in the UK gaming industry. It currently represents over 685 companies
and 1,170 individuals. Like the BCA, BACTA offers its members a voice in representing and lobbying
various government departments for changes in legislation when necessary, guidelines to regulate
procedures and an area to communicate industry news and changes.
BACTA is split into 4 main divisions: Owners of family entertainment centres,
machine suppliers, adult gaming centres and manufacturers and distributers. It holds regular regional
meetings and ensures all its members adheres to their Code of Conduct
